About the Recipe

Have you ever in your whole life enjoyed anything more than a smoothie bowl? How about a smoothie bowl with TWO bases? We're going tropical here with a mango/avocado swirl. To make things even better we're topping it off with chocolate granola. If you've been to Whole Foods, you may have seen Blue Stripes line of cacao products, from cacao fruit leather (yes, it's a thing) to chocolate covered cacao beans (Trader Joe's makes a great one too!) to cacao water to amazing cacao granolas, which is what we're using as a topping for this incredible smoothie bowl.

You'll want to use frozen mango and frozen avocado to achieve the desired thick and creamy texture. Coconut milk is used here to emphasize the tropical flavors we're going for, but any plant mylk will do.

Get creative, it's a smoothie bowl after all. Garnish with all the toppings your heart desires. The recommended toppings pictured here include cacao nibs, cacao granola, raspberries, almonds, and hemp hearts. Enjoy!

MANGO AVOCADO SMOOTHIE BOWL

Ingredients

For the Mango Base:

1 cup frozen mango chunks

1 ripe banana

1/2 cup coconut milk (or any plant-based milk of choice)

1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar (optional, for added sweetness)


For the Avocado Base:

1 cup frozen avocado chunks

1 ripe banana

1/2 cup coconut milk (or any plant-based milk of choice)

1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar (optional, for added sweetness)


Toppings:

Cacao nibs

Raspberries

Slivered almonds

Hemp hearts

Granola

Preparation

For the Mango Base: In a blender, combine the frozen mango chunks, ripe banana, coconut milk, and maple syrup or agave nectar.


Blend until smooth and creamy. Transfer the mixture to a separate container and set aside.


For the Avocado Base: In the same blender (no need to rinse), combine the ripe avocado, ripe banana, coconut milk, and maple syrup or agave nectar.


Blend until smooth and creamy.


In a bowl, pour both the mango and avocado bases side by side, creating a swirled effect.


Use a spoon or a skewer to gently swirl the two bases together, creating a marbled pattern.


Sprinkle the bowl with cacao nibs, raspberries, slivered almonds, hemp seeds, and granola.


Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious mango avocado swirl smoothie bowl!
